JoyPrime’s popular TV show ‘TroTro Diaries’ has officially launched a strategic partnership with the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) aimed at promoting fuel quality, safe fuel consumption, and road safety awareness within Ghana’s bustling trotro industry.
The announcement was made at the COMAC Safety Week 2025 celebration held in Accra under the theme, “Championing Safety, Elevating Operational Excellence.”
The partnership seeks to educate trotro drivers and commuters across selected stations in Accra, fostering safer, more efficient, and cost-effective public transportation.
Speaking at the launch event, Noella Kharyne Yalley, co-host of TroTro Diaries, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:
“Today marks a significant milestone for TroTro Diaries as we proudly announce our partnership with COMAC — a collaboration born out of a shared commitment to promote public education, awareness, and safety within Ghana’s vibrant transport industry.”
Recognizing the vital role of the trotro system in urban mobility, Noella noted the challenges faced:
“Our trotro system is the lifeblood of urban mobility in Accra and beyond, serving millions of commuters daily. Yet, it faces critical challenges, from fuel quality concerns and unsafe fuel consumption habits to road safety risks and operational inefficiencies.”
The partnership will launch an educational campaign targeting selected trotro stations across Accra, aiming to empower drivers and passengers with knowledge on fuel quality, safe fuel use, conservation techniques, and road safety awareness.
It also aims to foster ongoing dialogue among fuel marketers, transport unions, regulatory bodies, and commuters to address the challenges facing Ghana’s public transport sector.
COMAC’s Safety Week celebration and this new partnership with TroTro Diaries mark a concerted effort to tackle issues such as fuel adulteration, unsafe driving practices, and inefficient fuel consumption, all critical factors affecting the safety and sustainability of Ghana’s public transport system.
As the campaign unfolds, TroTro Diaries will leverage its platform to bring educational content and stakeholder voices directly to the trotro community, ensuring that the message of safety and quality reaches every corner of the city.
