Officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region have arrested 26 Nigeriens for entering the country through unapproved routes.
The Niger Nationals included 24 males 2 females and a two-year-old boy, aged between 23 and 58 years.
Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Emmanuel Addai, in charge of operations and enforcement at the Wenchi Municipal Command of the Immigration Service, told Radio West Africa, Nana Anfreh Damanta that the immigrants were all traders traveling from Abidjan to Techiman the Bono East Regional Capital.

They were on board 207 bus with registration number GR 8278 – Z.
They have breached our immigration laws and we would send them back to Sampa to assist us in investigations on how they entered the country ASI Emmanuel Addai retreated.
According to him in line with the Covid-19 protocols, the immigrants were screened to determine their Covid-19 status and they would be referred to Port Health at Sampa.
ASI Emmanuel Addai further explains to Radio West, Nana Anfreh Damanta that the 26 Nigeriens would be repatriated.
He urged drivers to support in the fight against Covid-19.
Mr Emmanuel Addai, therefore, cautioned that anyone who facilitated the entry into the country of a foreigner would be dealt according to the laws in the country.
