Central Region Minister Marigold Assan on Wednesday night had to persuade members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) to confirm the Chief Executive nominee, Ernest Arthur, by going on her knees.
The nominee need 44 ‘Yes’ votes to secure a two-thirds majority.
The regional minister’s gesture appeared not to have convinced about 25 of the Assembly members as they voted ‘No’ in the second voting exercise on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee.
He polled 40 out of the 65 votes.
Mr Arthur, popularly known as Mayor 1, had 34 ‘Yes’ votes in the first exercise held on Monday, September 27.
A third and final voting has been scheduled for Monday, October 11 at the same venue, the Regional Coordinating Council.
