
The 2025 Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards (GAFA) once again spotlighted excellence and innovation within Ghana’s financial services industry, honouring a distinguished group of institutions and professionals whose leadership continues to transform the sector.
The 7th edition of the event, held in Accra, celebrated outstanding achievements across banking, insurance, pensions, microfinance, and corporate finance, with awardees recognised for their commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and economic impact.
This year’s ceremony saw 23 organisations and six individuals receive top honours for driving financial inclusion, leadership, and innovation amid a rapidly evolving business environment.
Top individual honours
In the individual categories, Benjamin Afful-Eshun, CEO of Ahantaman Rural Bank Plc, was presented with the Exemplary Leadership Award (Rural Bank) for steering his institution to consistent growth and community impact.
Mr Issaka Ibrahim, CEO of People’s Pension Trust Ghana Ltd, received the Exemplary Leadership Award (Pensions Sector) for advancing inclusive retirement solutions.
The CEO of the Year (Rural Bank) went to Mr Henry Kweku Yankson of Ankobra West Rural Bank Plc, recognised for his forward-thinking management and financial discipline.
Corporate excellence and innovation
Among corporate honourees, Ecobank Ghana Limited was crowned Best Investment Bank of the Year for its strong market leadership. First Bank Ghana emerged as Innovative Bank of the Year, while Enterprise Insurance Ltd secured General Insurance Company of the Year.
The Bank Hospital, B5 Plus Limited, and Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City were each recognised for their exceptional financial management, winning Finance Team of the Year in the Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Hospitality categories respectively.
Ramoth Services Limited took the Finance Team of the Year (Mining Support) award.
Banking, savings, and microfinance recognition
The rural and microfinance categories highlighted institutions driving financial inclusion at the grassroots.
Amenfiman Rural Bank Plc was crowned Rural Bank of the Year, while Bessfa Rural Bank Plc took Brand of the Year (Rural Bank).
Odotobri Rural Bank Plc received the Outstanding Customer Service Award (Rural Bank), and Nzema Manle Rural Bank Plc was named Customer-Centric Rural Bank of the Year.
In the savings and loans sector, Letshego Ghana Savings and Loans Plc earned Brand of the Year (Savings and Loans), while Pan-African Savings and Loans was honoured for its Mama Club Group Loans, winning Savings and Loans Product of the Year.
Westone Microfinance Ltd was awarded Brand of the Year (Microfinance).
Insurance, pensions and investment highlights
The pensions and insurance sectors also took centre stage.
Enterprise Trustees Ltd was named Pensions Corporate Trustees of the Year, and Axis Pension Trust Ltd won Pension Fund Manager of the Year.
People’s Pension Trust Ghana Ltd picked up another recognition as Pension Scheme Administrator of the Year. StarLife Assurance Ltd received Innovative Life Insurance Company of the Year, while Glico Health Insurance Ltd was honoured as Best Health Insurance Company of the Year.
Training and development recognition
Rakes Company Limited won Learning and Development Company of the Year for its contribution to building financial leadership capacity and advancing professional training in the sector.
Driving Ghana’s financial transformation
Organisers of the awards commended the resilience and adaptability of Ghana’s financial industry amid global economic shifts.
They noted that the 2025 edition underscored the growing importance of innovation, governance, and technology in driving financial stability and inclusion.
Now a major fixture on Ghana’s corporate calendar, the Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards continues to champion professionalism, ethical practice, and excellence — qualities that remain critical to sustaining the nation’s economic growth.
