Businessman and philanthropist, Dr Kofi Amoah, affectionately called Citizen Kofi has donated GH 20,000 cedis to popular social group Buz Stop Boys. The token was, according to Dr Amoah, his appreciation and recognition of the hard work of these young men who have voluntarily embarked on cleaning the streets and marketplaces in a bid to keep the cities clean.

Presenting the cash donation to the Buz Stop Boys team at a short ceremony in Accra, Mr Yaw Buabeng, a representative of Dr Amoah said, “Citizen Kofi asked us to give you a donation as a show of his appreciation.

He admires the work you do and hopes this token will support your work. he encourages you and the youth of Ghana to actively participate in the governance of our dear country.”

Dr Amoah has demonstrated over the years that he is passionate about the exploits of young Ghanaians and Africans and often gives financial support or mentorship where necessary.

He reached out to these young men and women on social media platform X (formally Twitter) to commend them and promise to support them.

On their part, the Founder and Leader of the Buz Stop Boys, Heneba Kojo Sarfo, expressed the team’s appreciation to Dr Amoah, recounting how they got in touch with the former chairman of the GFA Normalization Committee.

“On behalf of every Bus Stop Boy we say thank you to Dr Kofi Amoah, we call him Senior Citizen. I remember when this conversation started on twitter when you said you wanted to meet us. At the time we were busy and didn’t see it and the second one came and eventual this is happening. This will go a long way to push us to a new height.”

Bus Stop Boys have gained national recognition the last few months following their decision to contribute to the city’s sanitation challenges by engaging in regular clean-up exercises.

Buz Stop Boys has grown from an initial number of five to over 40 members.

With brooms, dustpans, and a strong sense of community spirit, the Bus Stop Boys have become a driving force for positive change. Their initiative focuses on cleaning heavily trafficked areas, creating a cleaner and more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.

The innovative use of social media to showcase their work and inspire others to join the movement sets the Buz Stop Boys apart.
