Five persons have recovered fully from the Coronavirus after receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Center in Nigeria.

The information, which was disclosed by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on March 30, indicated that the 5 have been discharged after specialists at the hospital run several tests to confirm their findings.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, has recorded about 130 confirmed cases as of March 31 with 2 deaths.

Among the measures taken by the Nigeria government to control the spread of the virus are the closure of all land and air borders and the imposition of restrictions on movements in Lagos and Abuja.

The government has also provided more testing kits and urged citizens to generally stay at home.

“I am excited to announce some positive news ahead of our lockdown. We have just discharged 5 formerly positve #COVID19 patients from our Infectious Disease Hospital after treatment and multiple testing by our specialists. Congratulations to the healthcare team and the patients.

“The preservation of life is very important and this lockdown will help us trace and stop the spread of #COVID19. We have increased capacity at all levels and I want to assure Lagosians that no matter what happens in the days ahead we can beat this,” the Governor of Lagos tweeted on Monday.
