Some traders in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern Region on Thursday, 7 December 2017, embarked on a demonstration against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Comfort Asante, for preventing them from selling on the streets without an alternate market.
The demonstrators, clad in red and black dresses, marched with several placards with messages telling the MCE to resign.
The New Juaben Municipal Assembly has asked the traders to leave the streets to clear the pavements and ease congestion.
But the traders have kicked against the decision to drive them off the streets when markets have not been provided for them to relocate.
They fear they may lose out on business activities ahead of Christmas.
