The President’s Identification card is useless and empty- Sam George

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram constituency Sam George has made claims that the President’s National Identification Card is empty and useless.

He disclosed this in an interview with RSM Kofi Doe Lawson on Homebase tv on the morning show ‘Eboboba’.

According to him, the NPP has failed to fulfill its manifesto promise of registering all 28million Ghanaians under the National Identification Programme by the first year of its administration.

National Identification Scheme – we will register every resident in Ghana within the first year of taking office” (NPP Manifesto, pg 83)

Sam George went on to explain that, during the reading of the 2018 Budget Statement by the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori Atta, the Minister made claims that the NPP has fulfilled most of its campaigns promises by the first year in power.

He indicated that, the NPP were only deceiving Ghanaians because only the President of the State, Nana Addo Dunkwa Akufo-Addo has the National Identification Card in Ghana.

“Even the Vice President and the Speaker of Parliament do not have the National Identification Card” he stated.

He demanded a reason and an apology from the Government to Ghanaians for not implementing the National Identification Programme by the end of 2017 which ends in 30days.

He went on to say that, the President’s National Identification Card is nonfunctional since he is the only one in Ghana with that card.

“The card is just an empty plastic, it cannot even be recognized as an identification card globally” he stated.
