Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has scolded leadership of the country, describing them as visionless.
According to Ken Agyapong, leadership over the years has failed to get their priorities right, as far as tourism in the country is concerned.
“Our leaders are visionless. Tourism in this country is so bad and I think the ministry is not doing enough to reclaim the situation. They just don’t have priorities,” he said.
When he was speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, “Badwam” on Tuesday he said, The 2017 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index tabulate Ghana 120 out of the 136 countries sampled globally.
It has remained Ghana’s position since 2015.
The MP for Assin Central wondered why tourism potentials of Ghana have not been tapped to the benefit of Ghanaians.
According to him, while some African countries are making huge strides in the tourism industry, Ghana is yet to realise her potential.
“The world’s biggest tourism center is Dubai. You will be shocked to see how they have used tourism to develop the country. We can create one here if we have leaders with vision. Our hotels are very expensive but when they become affordable, they will draw more people to the country”, he disclosed.
On his last statement he therefore adviced leaders in the industry and stakeholders to draw strategies that can help Ghana tackle its potential for development.
