Highlife Musician Nana Yaw Kumi who is also known in showbiz as Kumi Guitar has said that he is more than OK with the Zylofon Media.
Kumi Guitar signed a 5 year ‘mouth-watering’ deal with the label, Zylofon Media, where he is said to have been given a Hyundai Sonata 2016 model, a signing-on fee of $100,000 and a 3/4-bedroom house.
These times are very precarious for musicians especially with regards to which hands they fall in.
There have been several artistes who signed their careers away once they appended their signature to a record deal. Others have shone so bright with their record label playing a pivotal role in their success.
In an interview with RSM Kofi Doe Lawson on the morning show Eboboba on Homebase TV, Kumi Guitar assured all his fans that the deal was the best he had signed.
“I am more than Ok” he said in the affirmative.
He said he had to listen to veteran highlife artistes like Nana Ampadu, Abirkyereba Kofi Sammy, Kwabena Akwaboah and a few others to learn how to properly do highlife Music.
“I was not playing any instrument so I decided to learn how to play the guitar to add up to what I already know,” he said.
The “1 Litre” hit maker stated that even though he has not had the chance to meet all these veterans, he believes that listening to them has really added more to the music he does.
He spoke of his excitement to have featured some highlife veterans in his latest video to the ‘Dream’ track.
