Let’s run a clean and issue based campaign – Dr Ekow Spio – Garbrah

We have to run a campaign throughout the country in a manner that would deal with issues and selling the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the ordinary Ghanaian rather than tarnishing reputations of persons that would intend injure the chances of the family in future.

These were words of Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah to the listeners and viewers of Homebase TV when interviewed to talk about his campaign launch recently in the national capital of Ghana.

Dr. Ekow Spio – Garbrah posited that such actions would not only injure the chances of the Umbrella fraternity but also make things worse for party members since it can bring serious division.

He was reacting to a story published by the Chronicle Newspaper on Thursday, 18th October 2018 with the captioned “ SPIO FURIOUS AT NDC MPS FOR BOYCOTTING CAMPAIGN LAUNCH”

He said such publications intend marring the future chances of the party therefore the need for a change in that aspects.


Ekwow Spio-Garbrah (born 1953) is a Ghanaian diplomat and politician. He is a former Ghanaian Minister for Trade and Industry, Former Minister of Communications, Former Minister of Education and a former Acting Minister of Mines & Energy.

He also previously served as Ghana’s ambassador to the United States and Mexico .  He is a former CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) based in London.

He is a declared candidate for the Flagbearer position of the NDC gearing up for Ghana’s Presidential Elections in 2020.

He is one of Africa’s pre-eminent public servants, and an authority on mass communications who has held several high-profile positions in the field.

He is a former Minister of Communication of the Republic of Ghana, one-time Ambassador of Ghana to the United States and Mexico, Minister of Education, Minister responsible for Mines and Energy and a member of UNESCO’s Executive Board in Paris
