John Paintsil gives Dong Bortey a three-day ultimatum to apologize to him
Ex-Ghana defender John Paintsil has given Bernard Dong Bortey a three-day ultimatum to retract and apologize for wrongfully accusing him of destroying his career.
Bortey said in a TV interview that Paintsil falsely accused him of stealing a watch when he was on trial at Meccabi Tel Aviv in Israel in 2004.
Th former Hearts of Oak star had his trial terminated and deported back to Ghana without getting a career-defining deal.
But Paintsil has denied any wrong doing and says he will be forced to disclose the shameful and disgraceful act which cost Bortey a move to the Israeli side.
“He came to Israel and I took him as a brother but 15 years after that, he still goes about destroying my image. He knows what he came to do in Israel that led to his stay being terminated by the club,” Paintsil said on Atinka TV Sports Court.
“I give him up to Monday to come out and tell Ghanaians exactly the crime he committed or I will be forced to come and and show to the world what he did backed by evidence. It was not about a watch he stole.
“There is a damning secret that I have decided to keep for the sake of his integrity as a Ghanaian but if he has decided to blame me, I will spit it out if he doesn’t apologize by Monday 4th March”
