Winner of MTN Hitmakers 2016, Kelvin Agyekum popularly known in the music industry as Kurl Songx says he had to log off his social media pages because he did not have a hit song immediately after MTN Hitmakers.
According to Kurl Songx in an interview with RSM Kofi Doe Lawson on the morning show Eboboba on Homebase tv Ghana, pressure from people after he won Hitmakers did not make him feel comfortable on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
“People were expecting that right after the Hitmakers, I would drop hit songs but that wasn’t the case” he stated.
He indicated that, some of the other contestants in the MTN Hitmakers 2016 had dropped about four hits songs but he had none. He felt he was disappointing his fans who expected so much from him after winning Hitmakers.
“Ghanaians were not happy with me for uploading just my pictures on my social media pages especially when I didn’t have a hit song. These expectations resulted in me logging off my social media pages.
He went on to reveal the steps involved in recording his popular songs such as Jennifer Lomotey and Whistle.
“I went to record my song with producer, Kaywa, in his studios and I informed Kaywa that I wanted to feature artiste such as Sarkodie on my song. Kaywa later played my songs to Sarkodie and he promised to pass by the studio to do something on the beat. Two days later, I was home when Kaywa called that Sarkodie was in the studio. I was surprised” he said
He went on to explain that he was very surprised because even popular artistes found it very difficult to get Sarkodie to feature on their songs.
He revealed that they recorded Whistle first and later recorded Jennifer Lomotey in passing.
“Sarkodie just loved the beat and what I had done with the beat so he decided to feature on that one as well” he added.
Kurl Songx, is under the label, Highly Spiritual Music (HSM), which has the award-winning, highly-revered producer, Kaywa, as its Chief Executive Officer.
