Women have been advised in general to be their own friend and allow their partners the breathing space and brand themselves individually.
“The era where women solely depend on men for everything is a thing of the past and must be avoided by women of today”.
The Executive Director of the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity made this known when addressing the maiden edition of the Single Mothers Conference and expo.
Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity, addressing the gathering said, the time has come for women to feel very special especially single mothers in Ghana.
She said women of today must learn to brand themselves and come out with innovative ideas that can make them move on in life individually.
She said women should respect their husbands but not to the extent of worshiping stressing that single mothers across the world must stand firm and soldier on despite all odds. The programme which was organized by Angeles Foundation on the theme breaking out of the shell saw single mothers been motivated at the end of the programme.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Boris Osisiadan Nimpong, welcoming the participants said the foundation is eager to educate and assist people on issues that affect society.
He said the foundation focuses on cancer education, maternal health, entrepreneurial skills development and boy child education.
Single mothers were asked to be self-motivated and challenged to go the extra mile taking note that some challenges were stepping stones to greater heights.
Distinguished Speakers such as Ethel Marfo, Emefa Gadze, Abena Osikua Gyarbeng Mensah, Queen Akosua Mensah, Dina Odoom etc. mounted the podium with mind boggling motivational speeches.
Maribel Okine, Programmes Officer, Department of Gender who represented the Director, department of Gender pledged that the Ministry will support the Foundation Technically from henceforth.
