The Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay who is vying to retain the position, has promised to provide pickup trucks and motorbikes to support women in constituencies across the country to help them increase incomes.
According to him, the party, with his efforts, will mobilise more than 5,000 motorbikes, 275 buses which will be distributed among the party officers and constituencies at all levels when elected as Chairman.
He touted his past interventions which included providing close to 300 vehicles and numerous motorbikes for the party for the 2016 general elections, and that partly helped in the party’s victory.
Mr Blay, who has been playing the acting role after the substantive Charman, Paul Afoko was suspended, said his contribution to the party’s election victory was significant and can guarantee more developments for the party if voted as the substantive chairman.
The buses, he said, will be operated on behalf of the constituencies by a company and the proceeds from the venture will be used to support the financial needs of the party at the grassroots.
Mr Blay also promised a credit facility worth GHC100, 000 for women organisers in each constituency as part of a support for those who may venture into local Ghanaian textile trading which the government is bent on reviving.
He, therefore, called on the delegates who wish for progress in the party to help consolidate his position as National Chairman.
Freddie Blay has been in the region as part of his week-long tour of the area ahead of the party’s National Congress.
The aspirant who has been crisscrossing the region soliciting votes has met delegates in Sogakope, Ho, and the southern and middle belt of the Volta Region.
