The Ghana Police Service has arrested a fake heart surgeon of a nonexistent hospital in Ghana.
The Ghana Police Service in a joint collaboration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council arrested the fake heart surgeon who claims to be the president and chief executive officer of a nonexistent hospital known as the Kings and Queens Medical University College and Teaching Hospital.
The fake heart surgeon created a website for his nonexistent hospital and wrote “each year, thousands of people come to the Kings and Queens Medical University College and Teaching Hospital to take advantage of our advanced healthcare and physicians, would you want to be part ?”
According to the Registrar of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, Dr.Eli Kwesi Atikpui, there were several claims on the website that the Kings and Queens Medical University College and Teaching Hospital has treated patients and done some hysterectomy.
The fake heart surgeon even went ahead to state that people have enjoyed the type of treatment that was given in the said institution.
The issue of fake medical practitioners is getting out of hand as the Ghana Medical and Dental Council together with the Ghana Police made an arrest of 19 fake doctors last month.
These doctors were arrested for practicing without certificate. When questioned about how these doctors got into the system, Dr. Atikpui stated that some of these doctors had inherited the clinics from their parents.
Dr. Atikpui said they were taking steps to curb the menace by issuing medical certificates with special security features.
