Dr Anaba is a victim of witch-hunting in Ghana – Muntaka

The Member of Parliament for Asawase , Honurable Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka has described the unfortunate events surrounding the transfer of the  Chief Executive Officer of  the Ridge Hospital, Dr Thomas Anaba to University of Development Studies is a clear indication of ‘Political witch hunting’ in Ghana.

Dr Anaba was appointed amidst controversy on 1 February, 2016 by the John Mahama administration. His appointment was to last until 2020, after which he would have had the option of reapplying to stay on. He was allegedly served with his dismissal letter on Monday 15 May and asked to vacate post in two hours.  Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Robert Cudjoe the medical doctor and the Chief Executive Officer of Ridge Hospital had not been dismissed, he had only been transferred.

However, this explanation did not seem laudable for the Member of Parliament for Asawase, Honurable Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka as he called it Political Witch Hunting by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Maeanwhile, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu in a Parliamentary proceeding revealed that Dr. Anaba had been transferred to University of Development Studies. According to the Minister, Dr. Anaba assumed office on secondment from UDS.

On completion of the phase 1 of the redevelopment of the hospital and the subsequent handing over of the facility of the Ghana Health Service, it was realized that the contractor had to hand over to a permanent Ghana Health Service staff as Chief Executive Officer for obvious reasons.

Dr. Anaba was therefore asked to resume his permanent office at UDS where he was seconded from to the Ridge Hospital.
