Asawase ‘Sallah’ festive shooting: Suspects arrested

Divisional Police Command has arrested three suspects for their involvement in the shooting of one Osman Addulai Karim during a street Jam at Manhyia Bonjour on the night of Tuesday June 27, 2017 after the Eid Fitir festivities.

It could be recalled that on that night, a group of Muslim Youth were having fun during a street jam at the Manhyia Bonjour when some unidentified young men on motorbike stormed the place and fired a locally manufactured pistol at the celebrants hitting one of them in the head and sped off after the act.

The suspects are Suleman Musah 19 years, Abdulai Umar 18 years and Lawson Hubert Joli 19 years.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah addressing the media said all the three suspects after the incident went into hiding until their arrest on Thursday.

DCOP Ken Yeboah added that after their arrest, Suleman Musah confessed to Police to have personally shot victim Abdul Karim in the head with a locally made pistol.

He confessed to have bought the pistol from one Fuseni now at large at the cost of Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC300) which he used to commit the crime.

Suleman Musah however indicated to Police that a scuffle ensued between him and one Shatta a couple of months before the incident.

‘He told police he bought the pistol to attack Shatta in revenge when he got information that he would be at the street jam organized after Eid festivities at Bonjour, but he rather shot Abdul Karim. All the three suspects Suleman Musah, Abdulai Karim and Lawson Hubert Joli are in police custody assisting in investigation whilst efforts are being made to arrest suspects Fuseni to also assist in investigation,’ DCOP Ken Yeboah explained.
