1D1F: Involve us in the implementation – GhIS

The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) has appealed to government to factor them in the implementation of its One-District-One-Factory and One-Village-One-Dam policies.

According to them, government’s quest of industrialising the economy will be brought to naught if their expertise is not sought before rolling out the social intervention programmes.

Speaking to Class Business on the sidelines of the 13th Surveyors Week and 49th Annual General Meeting in Accra, President of the GIS, Mr Edwin Addo-Tawiah said they will help reduce corruption if they are involved in the construction of government infrastructure.

He said: “We expect to be part of government’s infrastructure development programme. We expect to be able to talk to them about issues of reducing corruption in such projects if our professional surveyors are employed.

“Even if [any project] is a foreign donor support, we are asking for our members who are professionals to be attached so that Ghanaians can be used to support the One-Village-One-Dam, the factories and all that.”
